Tragedy, Again 03/10/2008
On Sunday, the cycling and triathlon worlds were again hit with tragedy when Kristy Gough and Matt Peterson were killed after being struck by a car. Kristy was the 2004 winner of the 25-29 age group at the Ironman World Championships. She had recently made a transition to elite cycling and had her eyes on the Olympics. CommentsMon, 10 Mar 2008 17:22:53 Thank you for bringing our attention to this tragedy. I lost some one close to me the same way. I will keep those families in my thoughts and prayers! Tue, 11 Mar 2008 04:28:38 In my garage, I have an old beat up "Walmart" bike that I found. I painted it white and it's called the Ghostbike; I got the idea from Bicycling magazine if a cyclist is ever killed in my area I am going to mount the bike on the site with a sign reading "A cyclist was killed here." I park next to it everyday but never really see it until I hear of tragedy. It's too bad I had to see again on Sunday. Thu, 13 Mar 2008 01:17:14 even more tragic is that they were killed by one of the very people we trust to protect us and enforce the rules of the road, a rookie sheriff. sad all the way around for both the cyclists and their families as well as the deputy and his.
